The Free Maine Campaign is hosting two Grassroots Leadership Schools over President's Day Weekend, taught by Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership (FACL) instructor Shawn Dow.
This grassroots leadership training program taught me how to be an effective leader for our constitutional freedoms here in Maine and I want to make sure all Maine conservatives and libertarians have the same opportunity.

As newly elected Governor Janet Mills and Democrat majorities in both state legislative chambers take office and begin to work on their agenda, Maine gun owners have cause for concern.
Historically, the 2nd Amendment has enjoyed strong bipartisan support from Maine people and their legislators, in large part due to Maine's sportsman heritage.
In the 1980s, a successful effort to strengthen firearm protections in the Maine State Constitution was lead by then Speaker of the House, Democrat John Martin. And in more recent history, despite divided government in 2015, Republicans and Democrats came together to expand firearm protections, making Maine the 6th Constitutional Carry state in the nation.
During this period of time, Maine has been consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Reports among the safest states in the nation. Today, Maine is ranked the #1 Safest State in America with the lowest overall violent crime rate.
But despite this long-standing bipartisan coalition, there are signs this is beginning to change. As national anti-gun interest groups (largely funded by NYC billionaire Michael Bloomberg's network) have poured millions into efforts to erode the 2nd Amendment rights of Maine people, many in the Maine Democrat Party are increasingly singing their tune.Read more
Governor Janet Mills has selected anti-gun activist Mike Sauschuck to serve as Commissioner of Public Safety, which would put him in charge of enforcing every gun law in the State of Maine.
(Click here to read more about Mike Sauschuck's record and why he would be so dangerous to our 2nd Amendment rights.)
If you are a Maine citizen and believe in the 2nd Amendment, please take a moment right now to email the Maine Legislature's Criminal Justice Committee:
Members of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee,
As a citizen of the State of Maine, I support the 2nd Amendment and I ask you to oppose the confirmation of Mike Sauschuck for Commissioner of Public Safety.
Mike Sauschuck is an anti-gun activist who sits on the Board of Directors for the Maine Gun Safety Coalition, a gun control organization associated with NYC Billionaire Michael Bloomberg.
Mike Sauschuck has publicly called for new gun control laws to ban and confiscate firearms and ammunition devices commonly owned by Maine people, criminalize the transfer of firearms between lawful Maine gun owners and empower state government to confiscate firearms from targeted Maine people without due process of the law.
As Commissioner of Public Safety, Mike Sauschuck would oversee the Maine State Police and be responsible for enforcement of all firearms policy in the State of Maine, including Maine's concealed weapons permitting system. This is not an appropriate role for someone who openly opposes our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
As a citizen of the state of Maine, I respectfully ask you to oppose the confirmation of Mike Sauschuck.
"We in the police and military are trained in handling life threatening situations, so we can do it, but you can't, no matter how much time you spend on the range."
Those are the words of Michael Sauschuck of Portland, speaking a few years ago at a televised forum on gun control.
Sadly, we are in danger of this many being put in charge of enforcing all firearm laws in the State of Maine.Read more
We are at a turning point in the history of Maine.
After years of moving Maine forward toward freedom, economic prosperity and personal liberty for Maine people, we are now in deep danger of falling backward into the old days of nanny state government, robbing more of our paychecks and telling us how to live.
As the new year is upon us, I am launching the Free Maine Campaign to fight for the freedoms and paychecks of Maine people against the nanny state politicians in Augusta.
I believe making our voice heard in Augusta is more important than ever if we are to preserve our liberties for future generations of Maine people.
It has been a long road for me, but let me tell you why I've made this decision.Read more
